Whether you are a parent, educator, teen, or grandparent, if you care for youth and want to support an optimal health message, your voice matters! Join us for our annual event to help raise awareness and educate Congress on Sexual Risk Avoidance education. Youth from across the nation will be coming to Capitol Hill to meet with their Members of Congress to share what Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) education means to them and how SRA programs have impacted their lives.
As described by Representative Randy Hultgren (IL):
Direct interaction between constituents and Members of Congress and elected representatives remains a vital ingredient of democracy. For young people especially it is an important learning tool and often an introduction to representative government. For Members of Congress it is a way to stay in touch with young constituents and hear their perspective firsthand on the issues important to them. I always look forward to personally meeting with my constituents, including those participating in Day on the Hill.
Day on the Hill (DOTH) is a unique opportunity for SRA organizations and supporters to have true influence by communicating the value of SRA education and the importance of ongoing funding for such programs. Your Congress members will hear directly from your students how your program has impacted their lives. This is the most direct way for your message to be heard by those who make decisions on SRA funding. Congressional offices consider meeting with their constituents a priority, so even if you won’t be bringing young people, be assured, your Member wants to hear from you!
