An SRAE program is only as effective as the person presenting it. However, identifying and attracting individuals passionate about youth issues can often be a challenge.
Here are some ideas to help discover youth-oriented, passionate people:
- Publish job opportunities in the newsletters of local non-profits and/or faith-based organizations that work with youth.
- Post job openings on your organization’s website and social media pages.
- Ask board and/or staff members if they know individuals who have the potential to communicate and relate with youth effectively.
- Visit a local Toastmasters club or other civic groups and let them know of the opportunity to present curriculum to youth.
- Create a college internship to foster interest among college students.
- Reach out to school staff who have been enthusiastic about the curriculum.
- Contact current substitute teaching staff to gauge interest.
- Consider approaching juvenile detention centers or other groups who serve high-risk youth to determine potential interest.
- Ask state-wide or national organizations to publish an announcement in newsletters.
Note: Personal contacts may be more effective than public advertising; therefore, word-of-mouth may yield the most successful results.
